Latrobe's new A-Grade Captain is a versatile batsman capable of playing a number of roles. Adkins was the club's best batsman in the 2005/06 A-Grade Premiership season, punishing any short bowling and regularly making a contribution. He is the ultimate team player, a handy medium-pacer and deceptively agile fieldsman in the circle. After a lean couple of years with the bat, I'm tipping the captaincy to be just the tonic for Adkins to get back to his best.
