Latrobe Cricket Club supports Latrobe High School to field cricket teams in the Devonport and Districts High School Competition.  Since being invited to join this competition Latrobe High School has won the premiership in four out of five seasons, including 2009/10 where Latrobe High School’s two teams played off in the Grand Final.

The competition runs in November, December, February and March, at grounds in Latrobe and Devonport.  Games are played on Wednesday evenings from 4.00pm to 7.00pm, in a 30-over per side format.  All players are given the chance to bat and bowl.

Participation in this competition costs $30, which covers the cost of equipment, trophies and ground use.  Latrobe Cricket Club provides the Latrobe High School team with equipment to use (although players are encouraged to use their own should they have it), playing shirts and hats.  Players are asked to wear white trousers and sandshoes for games.

High School players are also invited to train with the club’s Under-17 team (many high school players already play with LCC’s Under-17’s) on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4.00pm to 6.00pm.  Sessions are conducted at Latrobe Recreation Ground.

Latrobe Cricket Club volunteers assist where possible to help umpire, score and manage the team, but parental assistance is greatly appreciated.

The Latrobe High School team provides an important opportunity for players to develop their cricket skills and confidence, and has been hugely beneficial in preparing players for Under-17 cricket.

Player registration is completed in October, usually coinciding with a visit to the school by a Latrobe Cricket Club volunteer.  Details will be published in The Advocate and the Latrobe High School newsletter closer to the registration date.

For any queries related to the Latrobe High School team or if you would like to volunteer to help the team, please contact Co-ordinator Grant Goss by email, or on 0437 882 178.
