MATCHDAY PROCEDURES

In order for Latrobe Cricket Club to be its best, we ask that players make things easier for their team-mates and club volunteers by assisting with duties on match day. These duties are listed below:
Home Games at Latrobe Recreation Ground:
- Ensure that you have completed cover duty the night before the game if you have been assigned to do so. The entire centre square is to be covered and pegged down, usually done Friday evenings at 6.30pm.
- Assist club volunteers with IN2 Cricket from 9.00-10.00am Saturday mornings when you have been assigned to do so. Remember there were people to help you when you started, so help pass the joy of cricket on to a new generation.
- Arrive at Latrobe Recreation Ground at 9.45am (1st & 2nd Grade) or 45 minutes before your match starts (U/13, U/15, and U/17) to remove the covers. The covers, hessian, trolley and pegs must be removed from the ground, with the covers laid out at the top of the bike track.
- Place markers at intervals of 20 metres around the boundary line to assist umpires with determining 4’s and 6’s.
- Ensure the scoreboard is set up with numbers laid out and team names are placed on the scoreboard.
- Captains are to fill in the team sheet. One copy must be given to the umpires and a copy given to the opposition at the toss. Please indicate players who are Under-15, Under-17 & Under-19 (in 1st & 2nd Grade) for bowling limits.
- If batting, provide a square leg umpire if required.
- During your batting innings, your team will be required to score. The number 8 & 9 batsmen should begin scoring and do at least 10 overs. Then numbers 10 & 11, followed by dismissed batsmen. Each player should score at least 10 overs during an innings.
- If your team is batting, drinks should be prepared in advance and taken out at 17 & 34 overs in One-Day games, or at 12.00pm, 2.40pm and 5.00pm in Two-Day games.
- Again if your team is batting the scoreboard should be updated every 5 overs, or every over if scores are close.
- Please support Latrobe Cricket Club by purchasing your lunch from the club canteen. The ladies committee has a wide variety of foods on offer and can assist you if you have special dietary needs.
- At the end of the days play pack up the scoreboard and numbers, and collect the boundary markers. If a team is playing at Latrobe the next day, cover the centre square, otherwise fold up the covers and place them on the trolley.
- Remain in the club rooms for one hour minimum after the game to chat with the opposition and support the club’s bar. Water, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are available, and the club often has a barbecue with sausages and hamburgers. Without revenue from the club bar we cannot afford to purchase training balls and other equipment for player use, so please help out!
