LATROBE CRICKET CLUB 1st Grade v George Town on Sat 15 Nov 2008 at 11.00am
LATROBE CRICKET CLUB Won by 10 wickets
Match report
Latrobe celebrated their first match of the Greater Northern series with a resounding 10-wicket win over George Town. On what was a good batting wicket, George Town had no answers to the new ball combination of Clint Donohue (4-24) and Dion Parsons (3-11), who continued their excellent form so far. Bowling a tight off stump line and extracting just enough movement, George Town's batsmen were caught on the crease, presenting a couple of catches to Matt Clarke, or being trapped LBW. After Donohue and Parsons had wreaked havoc, Paul Dickson and James Wescombe took a wicket each to finish off George Town for the meagre total of 50.
In reply, Latrobe made the runs inside the first 10 overs, with Callan Morse the aggressor, scoring 34 runs from only 36 balls. Dickson played the anchor role, finishing unbeaten on 9. The win helped consolidate Latrobe's place on top of the CNW ladder.
