Match report Latrobe's A-Grade side were keen to finish the Greater Northern Cup with a win as it took on Westbury under threatening skies at Latrobe. Batting first, Westbury lost wickets consistently through their innings, with Dion Parsons (3-18) continuing his good form with the new ball. Nathan Avery also showed he was a greatly under-bowled medium pacer, taking a tidy 2-15 from his 10 overs, while Brad Green once again performed admirably in the Powerplay overs, taking 2-32. James Wescombe showed he is a very handy "clean up" bowler, chiming in with 2-13, helping to restrict the Shamrocks to a modest 127.

Latrobe captain Paul Dickson would have been hoping that rain did not intervene in the Demons innings, but unfortunately he could ponder this in the grandstand as he was dismissed for 1. Callan Morse (24) and Nathan Avery (17) then combined to add 38 runs for the second wicket before their dismissal. Unfortunately the Demons suffered under the revised target system as the heavens opened and on resumption of play Latrobe needed 123 to win with the overs running out. Unfortunately for Latrobe wickets fell regularly through the remaining overs apart from Andrew Boon, who again looked good in making 32. Latrobe could only muster 9-108, falling 15 runs short. However the Demons would be happy with their start to the year, finishing the one-dayers on top of the CNW ladder and looking forward to two-day cricket.
