LATROBE CRICKET CLUB Lost on First Innings

Match report In A-RESERVE Devonport scored a first innings victory over the Demons. Resuming at 3-67 the Orions lost Marshall early thanks to Nathan Dennis, but consolidated before lunch to overhaul the Demons total of 114. However, the Demons fought back after lunch, with Matt Perry (3-43) and Jason Sims (2-37) removing the lower order to dismiss the Orions for 204. Special mention must be made of Josh Squibb, who in just his third game bowled 10 overs of great control and shows great promise for the future.

Latrobe made a much better fist of batting in the second innings. Warwick Jones made another good start, reaching 20 before he was dismissed, but much of the work was done by Jason Sims (80), and Matt Perry (35) who made the most of a chance to bat for an extended period. Sims has now made half-centuries in two of his three innings to date and must be knocking on the door for A-Grade selection. The Demons finished the day at 9-185, a good result for the rebuilding team.
