Match report Latrobe finished its pre-Christmas matches with a trip to West Park to take on Burnie-Yeoman. Batting first the Demons were in early trouble, losing Matt Clarke (1) and Chris Boon (2) in quick succession. Trent Keep looked in good touch, racing to 9 before spooning a catch to point. When Cameron Simonds came and went for 1, the Demons were in all sorts of trouble at 4-29. Captain Josh Gadsby was looking good and reached 14 without incident, but played a poor shot and was dismissed for 14, leaving the Demons 5-43. In what proved to be a match-winning partnership Kodie Clarke (24) and Brandon Goss (10) added 47 runs for the 6th wicket. Clarke played probably his best innings to date, looking assured and playing beautifully off his pads before being dismissed. The dogged Goss then added another 25 runs with Trent Donohue (12), allowing the Demons to post a modest but defendable total of 122. Hopefully Latrobe's lack of concentration with the bat wouldn't come back to haunt it.

In reply Burnie-Yeoman were under early pressure. Nathan Dennis, returning from a knee injury bowled his 8 overs for 17 runs, keeping the pressure on as Cameron Simonds bowled beautifully at the other end, swinging the ball and taking 2-19. Simonds was aided by a Ricky Ponting like catch from Trent Keep at second slip, who dived to his left to take a ripper. Youngster Zack Weeks took a valuable wicket and Jamie Aherne bowled tidily until leg-spinner Marc Simonds came on and took 3-28 from 7 overs, swinging the match in favour of Latrobe as he dismissed the Emus danger-man Guy Grey. With the top order gone it was left to the Emus tail to try and get them over the line, but man of the match Kodie Clarke had other ideas as he cleaned them up, taking 3-7 and ensuring the Demons secured an unlikely 6-run victory.
