Match report After a comprehensive win in Round 1, Latrobe's Junior Colts were eager to continue their winning run against a strong Ulverstone side. Winning the toss, the Robins decided to bat and did it well, scoring freely against the new ball bowlers. It looked like Ulverstone could post in excess of 250 until Luke Bryan came on, and in a good display of leg-spin bowling took 4-27 from 10 tidy overs. Occasional spinner and birthday boy Trent Keep also snared two wickets, while Tristan Weeks claimed the other wicket. After 50 overs Ulverstone had compiled a very good total of 7-215.

Latrobe would need a good start if it was to overhaul Ulverstone's total. Things were going well, with openers Brandon Goss and Thomas Reeves starting well, reaching double figures. However, both were dismissed quickly, but Marc Simonds and Trent Keep combined for a partnership that gave the Demons hope of a win. Simonds was the aggressor, hitting 6 fours in a score of 39, while Keep played the anchor role effectively. When Simonds was dismissed, ending their partnership at 40, and the score was 3-84, there was still some hope for Latrobe, and Zach Weeks helped keep the momentum going with 22 before being dismissed. Latrobe were 4-110 with the overs running out and in a move that showed maturity, rather than throw their wickets away the Demon batsmen elected to play out the overs sensibly, reaching 8-156 after 50 overs. Trent Keep was the second last player out, making 34 in a confidence-boosting innings for him. It is a long season and this young side is improving rapidly. Our next encounter with Ulverstone should be a cracker!
